Main » Free Project - Make Your Note Stand Out!
Often, I’m pressed to find the appropriate note card because I worry about looking too businesslike, too formal or too casual. But I always want my correspondence to stand out. Now I have a solution – Print’n’Stitch Note Cards. We (Designs in Machine Embroidery) developed this paper to not only withstand the multiple needle penetrations of embroidery but also look and feel fabulous. Today, Print’n’Stitch Note Cards make my message stand out. There are eight different packs of note cards with more coming to a sewing machine dealer near you.

Open a new file in an embroidery lettering program. Digitize a single capital letter or a short phrase such as Thank you for a personal note card. If your program has the option of turning off the underlay feature, use it now as underlay is not necessary when embroidering on paper. Eileen’s Stitchable Paper holds its shape and requires no push/pull compensation.
For the black and white card, open the letter E from the Perfect Towel
Kit Fun Font in digitizing software. Notice the running and satin stitches in the stitch details section shown left.
Select and delete all of the running stitches, eliminating the underlay.
Print a template of the embroidery design if desired to audition it on the note card or simply measure the blank area on the Print’n’Stitch card. Size the design to fit in the space. The circle on the black and white card is 2 1/2”. Make your letter a bit smaller to allow an even border around the monogram. Send the monogram to the embroidery machine in the appropriate format.
To print on the inside of the note cards, feed the note card through an inkjet printer before applying the embroidery.
Polyester thread works best on paper and reduces the risk of thread shredding.
A sharp, small needle produces professional results on Eileen’s Stitchable Paper.
Underlay is not necessary when embroidering on Eileen’s Stitchable Paper.
Some machines (and digitizing software programs) drop a needle in the center of an embroidery design before stitching the actual design. If you encounter this situation, hoop stabilizer and press start. Allow the machine to drop the needle in the center and stop the machine immediately after. Now, remove the hoop from the machine and add the paper. Embroider the design. This step will eliminate an unwanted hole in the center of the design.
1. Hoop tear-away stabilizer. Insert the metal frame of Magna-Hoop into the hoop. Align one edge of the paper with the inner edge of Magna-Hoop as shown. Snap a magnet over the paper to firmly hold it in the hoop.
2. Place the rectangular Print’n’Stitch Placement template over the note card, centering the template’s opening over the card’s design area. Place the remaining magnets on the template to secure it in the hoop.
3. Place the target ruler over the opening, lining up the ruler’s crosshair with the template’s crosshair. Place one magnet on one leg of the crosshair to hold it in place.
Place the hoop on the machine and position the needle directly over the center of the crosshair.
Remove the target ruler. Trace the design at this point if desired. Embroider the design.
Remove the magnets, template and note card from the hoop. Gently tear the excess stabilizer. If desired, cover the back of the embroidery with Print’n’Stitch Stitch Covers. Simply remove the protective paper from the double-sided tape on the wrong side of the Stitch Cover and center it over the back of the embroidery.
