10-15 Minutes to Prepare Bag Fabric
  1. Cut a piece of fabric for bag Front (12) and Back Facing (20) several inches larger all around than pattern pieces.

  2. Fuse a layer of iron-on cut-away stabilizer, such as Fusible No Show Mesh, to the wrong side of the fabric in the area that you will be placing the embroidery. Make certain that the stabilizer is large enough for the entire design. The fusible is temporary and the excess can be trimmed away.

  3. Trace Front (12) and Back Facing (20) on the right side of the denim with a white fabric marker, such as the Water Soluble White Ink Marker, instead of cutting out each piece separately. Doing so provides a larger surface area of fabric to hoop.

20-30 Minute Blocks to Place the Embroidery Designs and Monogram
  1. Plan your design placement, or refer to the photo for our combinations.
    - We used design #051, #052, #053, and #055 on the bag front.
    - We used design #052 (enlarged) and the label #054 on the inside back facing.
Note: Many of the designs were mirror imaged.

  2. Determine the embroidery design placement on the Front (12) fabric and the Back Facing (20) fabric using templates for positioning.

  3. Mark positions for embroidery on the bag Front (12) and Back Facing (20).

  4. If you plan to add a monogram, size it and place it in your machine's memory to retrieve as needed.

10 Minutes to Prepare for Embroidery
  1. Insert a new machine embroidery needle and bobbin thread (or prewound bobbin).

  2. Select thread colors for the designs, or use the colors indicated.

  3. Place fabric that has been stabilized and marked in the proper size hoop. Some embroidery machines suggest the appropriate size hoop. With others you may need to measure the allotted design area.

20-30 Minute Blocks for Embroidery, Monogram and Personalizing Label
  1. Divide the embroidery into shorter segments, stitching designs in 20-30 minute blocks of time.
  2. Attach the hoop to the machine.

  3. Position and embroider the designs on the bag front, rehooping as necessary.

  4. Embroider the monogram on the bag front.
    - Recall the monogram from your machine's memory.
    - Position as marked, adjusting placement as necessary.
    - Embroider according to your placement template.

  5. Remove hoop from fabric.

  6. Position and embroider the label design on the back bag facing.

  7. Use free-motion stitching or built-in lettering to add a message or name to the inside of the embroidered label.
  1. Gently remove excess stabilizer when stitching is complete.

  2. Place the embroidery face down on a terry towel. Cover with a press cloth; press.

20-30 Minute Blocks for Completing the Bag
  1. Finish bag construction following pattern instructions in 20-30 minute blocks of time.
Note: To modify the handle we cut two pieces of denim 5″ x 5-½″. Meet 5-½″ edges of each piece, right sides together. Stitch ¼″ seams. Turn right side out. Fold each piece in half, meeting raw edges. Stitch raw edges of tab to bag about 2″ from completed purse center (with raw edge facing bottom of bag). Insert handle. Fold tab down and topstitch. Repeat for opposite side of bag.
