Let’s Go on A Cruise!
What are you going to do at sea for three days? Stitch, relax, dine, sun, dance and stitch some more. My sister, Marie Zinno, and I are so excited to board the beautiful Splendor Carnival cruise ship and sail along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. We have been busy developing projects that fit into the sailing schedule and provide you with lots of learning opportunity.
You’ll learn how to transform a basic tee into a lacy top – perfect for dinner with the Captain – or at least, Gilligan! You’ll stitch on water soluble stabilizer and stretch mesh to get a luscious finish on your lace. Much of the work will be done in advance so you’ll finish the entire tee on the first day – with time to rinse and dry before docking in the first port.
Next, you’ll get comfortable merging and editing the beautiful built-in designs on Baby Lock’s top of the line, Ellisimo. Stitch them out on a soft pashmina – we call it the Breeze Blocker Wrap – and you’ll find yourself reaching for this wardrobe must-have every evening on deck.
And what’s a vacation without a new purse to hang on your arm? I designed the Cabo Purse in fun, tropical fabrics, bright threads with a playful ruffle. You’ll master quilting with your embroidery machine using Designs in Machine Embroidery’s newest Snap-Hoop and my Reversible Piecing technique. This one-day class will overcome any qualms you’ve had about continuous embroidery.
I have a new passion – pincushions made with an embroidery machine. I can’t seem to stop buying all the pretty trims, buttons and embellishments – my stash is really growing! So I want to share my treasures with you when you make your own Flower Tower pincushion. Three stuffed flowers – all made in the hoop – are adorned then stacked with two shank buttons. Everyone will make one and each one will be different! I can’t wait to see the results!
And of course, we’ll tackle some hard-to-hoop items on Spa Day: slippers, bath towel and a cosmetic case. Marie will share her commercial embroidery insider tips on how to hoop blanks successfully. You’ll go home with all three items – personalized just for you!
What to Bring
I know from experience that many embroiderers are particular about their scissors. I suggest you bring your own (perfectly legal in all checked baggage). You’ll need embroidery snips and regular fabric scissors. We will supply cutting mats and rulers but it might be a good idea to bring your rotary cutter (label it!).
Please bring a plain tee shirt for the tee shirt makeover. The tee should be a basic crew neck or shallow v-neck. All lace will be sewn in white thread and cream stretch mesh (so you can see the lace!) so bring a tee that will look good with white. Suggestions include pale pink, soft gray, beige, light blue, soft coral, mint green, etc.
So what are you waiting for? Sign up today and join Marie and I (and our families!) on this luxurious 7-day cruise. |
