Arranged Perfectly by Bobbi Bullard Arranged Perfectly by Bobbi Bullard
The process of designing a garment with embroidery. -- I like to think of all machine embroiderers as fiber artists. We use our clothing as canvases and our embroidery designs as paints. As such, the placement of our embroidery designs is important for the success of every project. When I embark on a project, I ask myself, should I place a shower of flowers down the front of my shirt or a line of flamingos across the shoulders? Design placement makes the difference between a masterpiece and a ‘wadder’.

A Splashy Raincoat by Eileen Roche A Splashy Raincoat by Eileen Roche
This makeover project starts off with a beautiful well-crafted apple green raincoat. Then, I kicked it up a notch with four simple additions – a strip of bias tape along the collar, ultra suede cuffs, checkerboard buttonholes and a matching button.

Blue Suede Designer Jacket by Retha K. Helwig Free Embroidery Project: Blue Suede Designer Jacket by Retha K. Helwig
"Retha K. Helwig partially set in the jacket sleeve, then embroidered right across the seam! Unheard of at the time, but such an effective technique it's the shoulder detail that really makes that garment." ER

Celtic Elegance by Eileen Roche Free Embroidery Project: Celtic Elegance by Eileen Roche
"A red silk blouse adorned with dramatic tulle inserts at the sleeve can make an elegant statement at a dinner party, but that's not why this project is one of my top 50. Rather it's the fact that the blouse was too small for the well-endowed model so they shot me in the bluse and the Photoshopped her head onto my body." ER

Double Your Fun Reversible Embroidery by Sue Haus Double Your Fun Reversible Embroidery by Sue Haus
When I shop - it’s not necessarily for clothes but just as much for ideas and trends. When a quality “plain” garment fits me and is the right price, I buy it even if I don’t have a plan. My theory is “buy it and the inspiration will come…”So when I found this well-made red and black reversible, double-faced wool jacket, I did not hesitate. Although I loved it plain, I knew it could be “sew” much more!

Embroidered Tassels by Marlis Bennett Embroidered Tassels by Marlis Bennett
A plain blouse makeover with scraps of ribbon and tassel embroidery. Someone else’s trash can be your treasure. The ribbons that adorn this basic white linen blouse had been salesman samples that found their way into my resource center, which you might know as a stash. The challenge was to use these beautiful 6-7” strips of ribbon. With an abstract layout and tassel embroideries, a plain white shirt went from blah to wow!

Grosgrain Ribbon Belts and Keychain by Marie Zinn Grosgrain Ribbon Belts and Keychain by Marie Zinn
Ribbon Rage has swept the country. You see ribbon on clothing, purses, jewelry and even suitcases at the airport. And if you’re traveling with the younger set - you’ll see ribbon on their snazzy little belts or their key chain holders. I’ve designed these projects to mimic what I’ve been seeing at the mall. An important element is the ribbon itself. You want to purchase a high quality grosgrain (pronounced grow-gran). This particular ribbon holds up well and is very strong. It also happens to be the perfect choice for machine embroidery.

Makeover in a Minute by Mary Mulari Makeover in a Minute by Mary Mulari
Simple but effective makeover of a solid blouse with patches and embroidery. It’s always an enjoyable challenge to start with an ordinary garment and make it extraordinary. My preference is to add a few new features and deco-rations but not overwhelm the garment with too many details.

Sew Simple Transformation By Hope Yoder Sew Simple Transformation By Hope Yoder
My pretty white skirt was inspired by a garment I found at a very expensive boutique near the beach. You know how it goes, you see something and think “I could make that” and so I did. This project started as two blank linen bath towels from AllAboutBlanks.com and converts into a skirt in no time. The side seams are already finished so just a straight stitch joins the two together and there’s no need for a hem - the towels come with the gorgeous crocheted hem. After you embroider, all you have to do is make an elastic casing
